Water Fitness Class Descriptions

   
Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Course
      This class uses exercises to help ease joint pain, stiffness and muscle aches associated with fibromyalgia and arthritis. The buoyancy of the water is used to perform stretches and exercises that seem impossible on land, to increase joint range of motion and endurance. No equipment is used for the class just the resistance of the water. This class is held in the Therapy Pool.
       
   
Aquanastics
      This slower paced class is targeted for seniors and those just beginning to exercise. It is a non-impact workout that will improve range of motion, muscle tone, and give a light cardiovascular workout. You can vary the intensity of the class by modifying your movements and quickening your steps. This class is in the Therapy Pool.
       
   
Deep Water Fitness
      This is a great full body work out. Excellent for back pain patients or anyone looking for a zero impact aerobic/strengthening workout. Classes will take place in the deep end of the competition pool with the use of flotation belts.
       
   
Water Aerobics
      This class is a higher intensity water workout, it is designed for people looking for a low-impact aerobic workout or a cross-training option. The intensity of the workout can be altered by the speed of the movements. The class consists of warm-up, aerobic toning and cool-down segments. This class is in the Competition Pool.
       
   
Water Walking
      It is perfect for those recovering from an injury, those with arthritis or someone looking for a new workout. Water walking with increase your flexibility, improve range of motion and improve muscle tone with no impact on the joints. This class is held in the Competition Pool.
     
 

Adult Endurance Swimming

   

For those 18 (out of school) and older who want to work on endurance, stroke technique, and other skills competitive in nature. The program will be led by a Water Safety Instructor with a coaching or competitive swimming background. The on-going program is designed to allow you to work at your own pace, but also to assist you in accomplishing your personal goals (lose weight, triathlons, overall fitness, etc.) The workouts will challenge you to reach your next level in fitness.
