City Services
The City of Norwalk is a full-service community, constantly striving to improve on all services offered. These services include full-time police and fire protection, city-owned water and wastewater utilities, full-time sanitation services including an excellent recycling program which features a brush/yard waste collection program, and an efficient street and water distribution department. We also boast a complete recreation department with a state of the art aquatic center and a well-tended park system.

Safety/ Service Director Dale Sheppard
The
Safety/Service Director plans and directs the activities of the departments of
public service and public safety. He meets with department heads to discuss and
resolve operational problems and coordinates safety and service departments
toward common goals. The Director establishes crosswalks, safety zones, traffic
lanes, etc.; oversees the issuing of licenses and permits; regulates parking
within the city; and establishes and enforces temporary traffic regulations to cover
emergencies of special conditions. A key role is that of answering resident
phone calls, e-mails and letters covering a wide range of issues and working
with the residents in an attempt to help solve the issue(s) in

Trees
Trees located between the street and sidewalk are City trees. If residents have a concern about the trees, they should report it to the Safety/Service Director and tree board will inspect the tree and take appropriate action.

All permits are available in the Safety/Service Director's Office at City Hall.
Parking
Free parking is available on the uptown streets. Signs are posted with time limitations, with parking is limited to a maximum of two hours. On-street parking is not permitted in town during the hours of 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Four parking lots located in the downtown area offer free parking.
